Very traditional. Use in customary functions to make unique rhythm. Is the drum of choice in ancient Gelede musical tunes.

Belong in the same drum family as Agere. Used when moving about with the drum is required as the drummer could used the attached strap handle to hang the drum across the shoulder. Apesin drumming is done with hand and manipulating this drum to communicate and generate rhythm required sound hand and mind coordination.

A typical Apesin drummer knows how to use this drum to eulogize any Yoruba native according to their lineage and ancestral root.

Apesin and Agere drums are more popular in Ibarapa and Oke-ogun regions of Yorubaland.
